Winchester | Model 94 | .30-30 Winchester | Lever-Action Carbine | 1970 Production Few American firearms are as recognizable or historically significant as the Winchester Model 94. Introduced in 1894 and designed by legendary firearms inventor John Moses Browning, the Model 94 became one of the most successful lever-action rifles ever produced. Its combination of lightweight handling, dependable operation, and practical design helped establish Winchester's reputation throughout the American sporting and hunting market. The Model 94 holds a particularly important place in firearms history as the rifle most closely associated with the .30-30 Winchester cartridge, introduced in 1895. One of the earliest commercially successful American sporting cartridges developed for smokeless powder, the .30-30 became a favorite among deer hunters and outdoorsmen. Together, the Winchester Model 94 and .30-30 cartridge formed one of the most enduring combinations in American firearms history. Manufactured for generations, the Model 94 became synonymous with traditional American deer hunting, particularly in the heavily wooded regions of the eastern United States. Its compact design, quick-handling lever action, and tubular magazine made it especially well suited for hunting in brush and timber. This example, serial number 3363965, dates to approximately 1970, placing it within Winchester's post-1964 production era. Chambered in .30-30 Winchester, the rifle features the classic 20-inch barrel, traditional lever-action mechanism, exposed hammer, and wood stock and forearm that have made the Model 94 a staple of American hunting camps for generations. Although this rifle exhibits some cosmetic wear from handling and use, it retains a shiny bore and functioning action, offering an example of Winchester's iconic lever-action carbine with the character of a well-used sporting firearm. The receiver has two open sight-mounting holes on the left side, along with an additional small hole on the right side, above and slightly behind the loading gate.
