Smith & Wesson | M&P15 Sport II DTOM | 5.56 NATO | Semi-Automatic Rifle | Don't Tread on Me Edition The Smith & Wesson M&P15 Sport II DTOM (Don't Tread on Me) is a patriotic variation of Smith & Wesson's popular AR-15-style semi-automatic rifle, chambered in 5.56 NATO. Featuring distinctive Gadsden flag-inspired receiver artwork, Flat Dark Earth (FDE) furniture, and a modern sporting configuration, this rifle combines the established M&P15 Sport II platform with recognizable American Revolutionary War symbolism. The M&P15 Sport II was introduced in 2016, building upon the success of the original M&P15 Sport. The updated design incorporated features such as a forward assist and ejection port dust cover while retaining the familiar direct-impingement gas system, rotating bolt, and traditional AR-15 operating controls. This example is the DTOM edition, featuring the inscription “Don't Tread on Me” accompanied by a coiled rattlesnake on the right side of the lower receiver, above the magazine well. The artwork references the historic Gadsden flag, which originated during the American Revolution and has become a recognizable symbol of American independence. The rifle features a 16" barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a matte black barrel and receiver complemented by contrasting Flat Dark Earth (FDE) furniture. The FDE adjustable buttstock, pistol grip, and handguard give the rifle a distinctive two-tone appearance. The forearm features a Magpul-style polymer carbine-length handguard, incorporating a contoured design and accessory mounting provisions. Mounted beneath the handguard is an angled foregrip (AFG), providing an additional ergonomic gripping surface. This style of foregrip is designed to support a natural forward-hand position while maintaining a streamlined profile. The rifle retains the traditional A2-style fixed front sight assembly, featuring an adjustable front sight post and triangular front sight base that also serves as the gas block. At the rear is a Magpul MBUS folding aperture sight, providing a familiar AR-style sighting arrangement. Mounted on the upper receiver is a Northtac Ronin P-11 red dot sight. This compact electronic optic features a 1x20mm configuration, a 2 MOA red dot reticle, adjustable brightness settings, and motion-activated illumination technology. The red dot powers on, although its zero and accuracy have not been verified. Additional features include a detachable magazine system, adjustable FDE buttstock, manual safety selector, and a nylon sling. The combination of the Don't Tread on Me receiver artwork, FDE furniture, angled foregrip, and Northtac optic gives this rifle a distinctive appearance compared with a standard M&P15 Sport II.
