Winchester | Model 94 NRA Centennial Rifle | .30-30 Winchester | 1971 Commemorative The Winchester Model 94 NRA Centennial Rifle is a special commemorative lever-action rifle manufactured in 1971 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Rifle Association (1871–1971). Produced by the Winchester-Western Division of Olin Corporation in New Haven, Connecticut, this commemorative was part of a two-model series honoring the NRA's century of involvement in American marksmanship, firearms education, and shooting sports. Winchester introduced both the NRA Centennial Rifle and the NRA Centennial Musket for the anniversary celebration. While the Musket was inspired by the earlier Winchester Model 1895 NRA Musket, the Centennial Rifle was patterned after the classic Winchester Model 64, a sporting variation of the Model 94 action. The Rifle features a 24" tapered round barrel, half-length tubular magazine, semi-pistol-grip walnut stock, and contoured lever, giving it a distinctive profile compared with the standard Model 94 carbine. Chambered in .30-30 Winchester, the rifle retains the traditional lever-action operating system that helped establish the Winchester Model 1894 as one of America's most recognizable sporting rifles. The Centennial Rifle incorporates a hooded front sight and adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight, along with a walnut forearm and a steel forearm cap. The commemorative features distinctive NRA Centennial markings, including anniversary inscriptions commemorating 1871–1971 and an NRA emblem inset into the right side of the buttstock. Its special receiver finish and commemorative detailing distinguish it from standard-production Winchester Model 94 rifles. The 1971 NRA Centennial Rifle was produced as a limited commemorative offering, with approximately 21,000 rifles manufactured according to published collector references. These rifles remain collectible examples of Winchester's extensive commemorative series, particularly when accompanied by their original factory packaging and paperwork.
