High Standard | Model 102 Supermatic Tournament | .22 LR | 5½" Bull Barrel The High Standard Model 102 Supermatic Tournament is an American-made semi-automatic target pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, manufactured during an important period in the development of competitive rimfire handguns. Produced by the High Standard Manufacturing Corporation of Hamden, Connecticut, the Supermatic series earned a strong reputation among competitive shooters for its accuracy, precision-oriented construction, and distinctive styling. Introduced in 1958, the Model 102 series incorporated refinements to High Standard's established target pistol designs, including improvements to the barrel attachment system and frame configuration. The Supermatic Tournament was designed for competitive target shooting and recreational marksmanship, offering the quality construction and handling characteristics associated with High Standard's well-regarded rimfire pistols. The pistol operates using a simple blowback action with an internal hammer and fixed-barrel design. Unlike pistols with exposed hammers, the Model 102 incorporates its hammer within the receiver, maintaining a streamlined exterior profile. Its fixed-barrel arrangement and substantial steel construction contribute to the stable handling and consistent accuracy associated with the Supermatic series. This example features a 5½" bull barrel, providing additional forward weight and a steady sighting platform. While early Model 102 Tournament pistols were commonly cataloged with tapered barrels, the 5½" bull-barrel configuration became available on later High Standard models beginning around 1962. The right side of the slide is marked "MODEL 102," confirming its series designation. Serial number 844758 is consistent with early Model 102 production, with an estimated manufacture date of 1958–1959.
