CMMG | MkGs PSB GUARD | 2019 Friends of NRA Edition | 9mm | 8" Barrel | Semi-Automatic Pistol The CMMG MkGs PSB GUARD is an American-made, AR-pattern semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, combining familiar AR-platform controls with CMMG's innovative pistol-caliber operating system. Manufactured by CMMG Inc. of Missouri, the GUARD series was introduced in 2017 and quickly gained recognition for its unique mechanical design, compact configurations, and compatibility with Glock-pattern magazines. This particular example is a 2019 Friends of NRA special edition, selected for the organization's annual fundraising merchandise program. Friends of NRA events support firearms education, youth shooting sports, range development, and other shooting-related initiatives. Firearms offered through these programs frequently feature special configurations or commemorative identification, distinguishing them from standard commercial production models. The distinctive 2019NRA serial-number prefix identifies this pistol with the 2019 program. One of the most notable features of the MkGs GUARD is CMMG's proprietary Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. Unlike conventional pistol-caliber AR firearms that utilize a straight-blowback action, the GUARD employs a rotating bolt with specially angled locking lugs. This arrangement delays the rearward movement of the bolt carrier, allowing the use of lighter reciprocating components while helping reduce felt recoil and muzzle movement. The MkGs platform utilizes a dedicated lower receiver designed to accept Glock-pattern double-stack 9mm magazines.
