Winchester | Model 94 Wells Fargo & Company Commemorative | .30-30 Winchester | 1977 Lever-Action Carbine The Winchester Model 94 Wells Fargo & Company Commemorative is a special-edition lever-action carbine produced in 1977 to honor the history and legacy of Wells Fargo & Company and its association with the American West. Founded in 1852 by Henry Wells and William G. Fargo, the company became closely associated with stagecoach transportation, express deliveries, banking, and the movement of valuable shipments across the expanding western frontier. Its iconic stagecoach imagery remains one of the most recognizable symbols of 19th-century American transportation and commerce. Winchester selected its legendary Model 94 lever-action platform for this commemorative edition, combining one of America's most recognizable sporting rifles with decorative elements inspired by the Wells Fargo stagecoach era. Originally introduced in 1894 and designed by John Moses Browning, the Model 94 became one of the most successful lever-action rifles ever manufactured. Its association with the .30-30 Winchester cartridge, introduced in 1895, helped establish the rifle as a longstanding favorite among American hunters and outdoorsmen. The 1977 Wells Fargo Commemorative was produced in a limited run of 19,999 standard carbines, each featuring a distinctive combination of decorative metalwork and upgraded wood furniture. The commemorative design includes an engraved receiver with an antique-silver-style finish, fancy checkered American walnut furniture, and a Wells Fargo stagecoach medallion inset into the buttstock. The traditional curved buttplate and classic Model 94 carbine configuration complement the historical theme. These special features distinguish the Wells Fargo edition from standard-production Model 94 carbines and have made it a recognizable part of Winchester's extensive commemorative firearms series.
