Remington | Model 870 Express | 12 Gauge | 28" Vent Rib | Rem Choke | Pump-Action Shotgun The Remington Model 870 Express is a classic American-made pump-action shotgun built on one of the most successful and recognizable shotgun designs in firearms history. The original Remington Model 870 Wingmaster was introduced in 1950, establishing a reputation for dependable operation, rugged construction, and versatility across hunting, sporting, and law-enforcement applications. Its steel receiver, twin action bars, and bottom-loading, side-ejecting design helped make the Model 870 a mainstay of American shotgun manufacturing for decades. In 1987, Remington introduced the Model 870 Express as a more affordable alternative to the higher-polished Wingmaster. The Express retained the proven Model 870 action while incorporating a matte metal finish and satin-finished hardwood furniture, creating a practical field shotgun with a more subdued appearance. The Express became particularly popular among upland hunters, waterfowl hunters, and recreational shooters seeking a traditional pump-action shotgun without the additional expense of the Wingmaster's polished finishes. This example features a 28" ventilated-rib barrel, providing a traditional field configuration suitable for sporting clays, trap shooting, and various hunting applications. The ventilated rib provides an extended sighting plane, while the Rem Choke interchangeable choke system allows different choke constrictions to be installed for varying shooting applications. Its wooden stock and forearm give the shotgun a classic sporting appearance, complemented by the subdued matte finish characteristic of the Express series.
