Mossberg | Model 152 | .22 LR | Semi-Automatic Carbine The Mossberg Model 152 is a distinctive American-made .22 Long Rifle semi-automatic carbine manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, Connecticut, from approximately 1948 to 1957. Introduced during the post-World War II period, the Model 152 was part of Mossberg's lineup of affordable sporting rifles designed for recreational shooting, small-game hunting, and marksmanship practice. Its compact proportions and military-inspired styling reflected the popularity of the U.S. M1 Carbine, a firearm familiar to many returning American servicemen. Mossberg even promoted these rifles as military-style carbines, combining the appearance of a service rifle with the economy and practicality of the .22 LR cartridge. One of the Model 152's most recognizable design features is its hinged folding forearm, designed to swing downward and serve as a forward hand grip or shooting support. The rifle was originally equipped with a walnut Monte Carlo-style stock, an 18" barrel, a detachable seven-round box magazine, and military-inspired sights featuring a receiver-mounted aperture sight and protected front post. The Model 152 also incorporated provisions for scope mounting, offering shooters flexibility between traditional iron sights and optical sights. These unusual design elements have made the Model 152 an interesting example of Mossberg's innovative postwar rimfire rifle production. This particular Mossberg Model 152 remains in good condition, showing nicks and scratches to the wooden stock along with scratches on the barrel and receiver. The bore is bright and shiny, and the firearm functions mechanically. With its distinctive military-inspired styling and classic Mossberg design, this rifle represents an interesting piece of mid-20th-century American rimfire history. Firearm Specs Manufacturer: O.F.
