Ruger | Super Redhawk | .480 Ruger | 9½" Barrel | Factory Target Grey Finish This Ruger Super Redhawk chambered in .480 Ruger is an early-production example dating to approximately 2002, featuring the distinctive factory Target Grey finish and a full-length 9½" barrel. Introduced in 2001, the .480 Ruger cartridge was developed in collaboration between Ruger and Hornady as a powerful big-bore revolver cartridge intended primarily for handgun hunting. Firing heavy .475-caliber bullets, the .480 Ruger was designed to deliver substantial energy while operating at lower pressures than the .454 Casull. The cartridge represented an important addition to Ruger's large-frame revolver lineup and remains popular among enthusiasts of powerful hunting handguns. Originally introduced in 1987, the Ruger Super Redhawk was engineered as a heavy-duty revolver capable of handling powerful magnum cartridges. Its design incorporates an extended stainless-steel frame, a triple-locking cylinder, and Ruger's integral scope-mounting system, allowing optics to be installed without permanent modifications. Early .480 Ruger models were offered with Ruger's distinctive Target Grey finish, a subdued matte-gray surface treatment applied to the stainless-steel construction. This finish was eventually discontinued, making original Target Grey examples an interesting variation for Ruger collectors. This particular revolver features the desirable 9½" barrel, six-shot unfluted cylinder, adjustable sights, and factory scope-mounting provisions. It remains in excellent condition, showing only a minor cylinder drag line and a small scratch on the right side of the barrel near the muzzle. The bore is bright and shiny.
