J. Stevens | Nitro Special | 12 Gauge | Single-Shot Shotgun - NON-FUNCTIONING Description The J. Stevens Nitro Special is a vintage American break-action shotgun produced by J. Stevens Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. Stevens manufactured a wide variety of affordable, utility-grade shotguns during the early 20th century, including single-shot models marketed under the Nitro Special name. This example is chambered in 12 gauge and features a break-action, exposed-hammer configuration with a wood forearm. The shotgun is being offered in poor, non-functioning condition due primarily to the buttstock being broken off from the receiver. Despite the damage, the action itself locks up tightly and the hammer and trigger operate mechanically. Firearm Specs Manufacturer: J. The buttstock is broken off from the receiver, leaving the shotgun unsuitable for use in its present condition. The wood forearm is heavily dinged and nicked from use and handling. The barrel has a few areas of surface rust but is otherwise in relatively good cosmetic condition. The receiver is also in good cosmetic condition with only a few light scratches. The bore is dirty. The hammer and trigger function mechanically, and the break action closes and locks up tightly.
